Dog Days Internet Special!

With the summer heading into the final stretch here, we thought we’d run an in-house special to remind everyone that the beat goes on at Grapes and Tastes. For a limited time, we are offering a complimentary cheese and sausage platter with the purchase of any in-house bottle of wine, that you can enjoy in our lounge.

It’s the perfect chance to just kick back and relax over some of our best wines and hors d’oeuvres. To take advantage of this offer, all you need to do is print out the coupon below and present it at the time of purchase. Or if you’d like to stay paperless and green, save the image to your mobile device and bring it with you.

All’s Fair in Wine

Hello,

Just a quick note this week to mention that Grapes and Tastes will have a wine booth at the Ozaukee County Fair in Cedarburg this week and weekend. The Oz County Fair is one of the few remaining fairs in the Midwest that are still free, so be sure to check it out. For more info go here: www.ozaukeecountyfair.com

For those of you who do attend the fair, stop by our booth near the main gate for a glass on us. Say hello and mention this post to get a BUY ONE GET ONE glass of wine.*

If you stop in at the store on Friday night, you can say hello to Erik. He will be on hand to taste out a few Left Bank wine selections. Enjoy some wine and catch up with Erik!

Cheers!

* One BOGO per email address/account, thanks.

New Grapes

One great thing about wine is that it’s never the same. Wines are always different, from vintage to vintage, or even glass to glass after opening a bottle. And, the best thing about that, at least to us, is how one’s preferences can evolve and enjoyment of new flavors can grow.

That’s why we like to keep our selections fresh. There are certainly some standards in our assortment of wines that should be there every day because they consistently deliver, however, it’s a lot of fun on our part to bring in new wines on a weekly basis and share them with our customers. Turning someone on to a new winemaker, new varietal or new blend is at the heart of our business. It’s not just about the grapes, it’s the tasting process and finding something you’ve never had before.

So check out some of the wines we’ve added in recent weeks:

  • Airlie Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley, Oregon
  • Aletta Garnacha, Spain
  • Arrogant Frog Pinot Noir, France
  • Baglio di Pianetto Ramione, Italy
  • Caldora Sangiovese, Italy
  • Casa Silva Syrah/Carmenere Rose, Chile
  • Cote Est Lafage Grenache Blanc/Chardonnay, France
  • Delta Pinot Noir, New Zealand
  • Elevation Merlot, Central Coast, California
  • JFJ Brut Sparkling, California
  • Mosen Cleto Garnacha/Tempranillo
  • Pennywise Petite Sirah, California
  • Red Belly Black Shiraz, South Australia
  • Sacred Stone Master Red Blend, California
  • Uvaggio Vermentino, California
  • Vega Sindoa Garnacha Rose, Spain
  • Wildhurst Cabernet Sauvignon, Lake County, California
  • And, this is only a partial list of new stuff!

Stop in during the rest of July and mention this email and receive our 12 bottle discount on any of these wines, even if you purchase only one bottle.* (But we hope you’ll take a case!)

Also check out our new artisan cheeses (great with most wines), GoVino wine glasses (great for patios, picnics and boats) and Woozies (great for keeping wine cold in the glass)

    Cheers!

    * Sorry, no further discounts apply to this list.

    Festival Madness

In Wisconsin, we like to joke about the seasons: winter, spring, fall and construction seasons, but we need to add another season to the mix, at least in this area – FESTIVAL season.

Festival season got off to a great start with the Wings of Hope event at Firemen’s Park in Cedarburg last Saturday. Wings of Hope is a fundraiser for the Love 4 Lexi Foundation, which offers grants or assistance to families of children with gastrointestinal dysfunction who demonstrate a financial need, and supports gastrointestinal research at major medical institutions. Check out more about their great work and help them out on their website: http://l4lfoundation.org/ (Yes, a shameless plug.)

The season continues this Friday evening at Cedar Creek Park with the first of the Summer Sounds free music concerts. For the next ten Friday evenings, Summer Sounds will feature a different band, mixing styles and sounds, but always offering a great time. Things are even better this year – the Summer Sounds booth will be selling wine by the glass and bottle – wines that we carry in the store at Grapes and Tastes. Show your support for Summer Sounds by pounding lots and lots of wine (another shameless plug). You can also stop by our booth at Summer Sounds and pick up a cheese, sausage and cracker combo to enjoy with your wine (and another shameless plug). The full Summer Sounds concert schedule is available here: http://www.summersounds.net.

The madness continues in Cedarburg with this year’s Strawberry Festival on Saturday and Sunday. If you have never been to Strawberry Fest, or haven’t gone lately, you really should check it out. There’s a lot of great art, food, music, beverages and more. Plus, we’ll be there with a Grapes and Tastes booth (one more shameless plug), so stop and say hello (and buy something!).

Grapes and Tastes will also have a wine booth at Ozaukee County Fair, but more on that at another time (look, no plug!).

In wine news, Erik from Left Bank will be here Friday evening tasting out a couple of surprises. Many of you will remember Erik from his time working at Grapes and Tastes. If you can, stop in and give him a hard time!

And, watch for more info on our Bastille Days tasting. We’ll be getting our order of new white, red and rose’ Bordeaux wines in the next couple weeks and will be doing a tasting of many of them. This will be a great chance to try some great newly released wines.

By the way, the correct answer to our last trivia question was New Zealand, which has the world’s southernmost WINE region. It really wasn’t a trick question. Congrats to the few who got the correct answer.

    Cheers!
