Beer, Beer, Beer.

OK, so what’s with all the beers, you ask?

We thought it was overdue that we pay some attention to the great crafted beers that we carry at Grapes and Tastes, so we are holding a Beer Tasting next week Wednesday, May 19, from 5-7 pm. That’s right, a BEER Tasting.

Our beers are usually overshadowed by our 300-plus wines, so you may not have noticed that we offer mix-and-match six-packs for just $8.99, which is a great way to try new beers without having to make a commitment to a six pack (for those of you who have trouble committing!). And – you can also purchase single bottles to enjoy while at Grapes and Tastes for only $2.00 each!

We’ll have eight great micro brews and imports out for tasting, along with some beer snacks such as mustards and pretzels and gourmet cheeses. For just $5, you can try all the beers (more than once if you like) and munch out. Just give us a call or drop us a line so we know you’re coming, then stop in next Wednesday after work for Beer, Beer, Beer, Beer, Beer, Beer, Beer, Beer.

Meanwhile, back at the vineyard, we’re planning another wine tasting event for Wednesday, May 26. Amy from Wine Merchants will be here, with what she calls her ‘Slugger’ wines. ‘Sluggers’ are those wines that are perfect for sitting and slugging a couple of glasses, especially in the summer. Amy’s picked out six Summer Sluggers that we’re going to enjoy with Slugger food, like brats and dogs, and we’re going to play some Slugger wine trivia for prizes. Sounds fun, right? Only $10 per person, paid in advance. Better hurry, because this one will sell out quickly!

In closing, we want to thank everyone who’s signed up for the Pizza Wine Tasting. The response has been fantastic and we’re really looking forward to it. We appreciate the support and interest in our events. As you can see from the two events mentioned above, we have something for everybody. Just check our EVENTS CALENDAR page to see what else is coming up.

Cheers!

New Wines, Special Events and Guess the Grapes Trivia!

After all the excitement of the last few weeks, this week looks to be a little quieter. At least, at first. We’re in-between some of our special events (although the planning and coordinating goes on), but we do a have a bit more time to talk about some of the new wines we’ve brought in or are on order.

As promised with the ‘spring cleaning’ 30% off sale (some great deals remain!), we’ve made room for some new wines, and we think we’ve picked out some great stuff. A few new Cabs, Pinot Noirs, Syrahs, great new French, Italian and Spanish selections (too many to note here!) some lesser known white varietals, and some excellent Roses. If you are not familiar with Roses, or thought they always were sweet and included the word ‘white’ somewhere in the name, you are in for a special treat! Our Roses are loaded with crisp, summer flavors and leave light dry aftertastes. They are great with a lot of varied foods. Check them out next time in.

Regarding our events, you’ll now find an event calendar page on the website. We’ve got a lot of things happening so it’s cool to have somewhere to post it all. And if you have an event that would be of interest to other Grapes and Tasters, drop us a line so we can cross-post with your event(s).

A few highlights from the calendar:

  • Wednesday and Saturday Wine Plane Wine Tastings, 5-7 pm, $5
  • May 6 – Ladies Night Out with kick-off reception at Grapes and Tastes!
  • May 7 Guy Davis at the Cedarburg Cultural Center
  • May 7, Lewis, Burroughs and Davis at the Singer Songwriter Series – SPECIAL Buy One Get One ticket at Grapes and Tastes only!
  • May 12 Pizza and Wine Tasting, only $10, sign up in advance soon!

Plus, we’re working on a Beer tasting for one Friday night in May, a Wine and Foodie tasting in June and a Cigar tasting before Father’s Day.

Finally, as a thanks for reading all the way through this email, you get a special trivia reward: name the five grapes of Bordeaux (per French Law).  Be one of the first five people to reply  (via email or in the comments on the website) with the correct answer to win a free Red Dot wine from the store! If you get even one grape correct, ***win a free glass of wine!

***limited to the first ten correct guessers.
